Borst was admitted to the California State Bar in 1988. He received his B.A. Degree in German from the University of California at Berkeley and graduated with Honors from Golden Gate University School of Law in 1988. Mr. Borst served as an editor of the Law Review. Mr. Borst is a member of the Alameda County, Eastern Alameda County and Contra Costa County Bar Associations, as well as the State Bar of California. Mr Borst is past President (1999) of the Eastern Alameda County Bar Association where he has served on the Board of Director since 1995. He is also a member of the Family Law and Estate Planning Sections of the Alameda and Contra Costa County Bar Associates. He regularly serves as an attorney's fee arbitrator for the Alameda County and Contra Costa County Bar Associations. Mr. Borst's practice is devoted to family law, where he has achieved considerable success for both men and women clients in negotiating settlement agreements and in litigation. An ever-growing percentage of his practice involves mediation, a dispute resolution process that, like collaborative law, seeks to give clients more control over the outcome of their family law disputes than the traditional litigation option.
